This week students will continue learning and participating in activities covering the Middle Ages. Students will be asked to analyze and describe life on a Medieval Manor, the Medieval Knights Code of Chivalry, Knighthood, and Armor. The test for the first part of the Middle Ages will be Friday. In addition, students will continue reading Blood Red Horse both in class and at home. Students will also be assessed on their comprehension of Blood Red Horse.

  • Monday: Read Ch. 6 of Blood Read Horse. Will individually read “Life on a Manor” and answer questions in class. HW: Students will finish reading and questions if did not finish in class. Read Blood Red Horse.
  • Tuesday: Continue Middle Ages PowerPoint Notes – Knights, Chivalry, and Medieval Armor HW: Read Blood Read Horse
  • Wednesday: Participates in Code of Chivalry and Armor in class activity. HW: Work on Test Review and Read Blood Read Horse.
  • Thursday: Work on Test Review, finish Maps, and Vocabulary. (Teacher will be present for any questions or concerns)
  • Friday: Middle Ages Test part 1 (after test student will read Blood Red Horse) HW: Read Blood Red Horse

April 21 - April 25

This week the students will begin the reading the novel Blood Red Horse, chapters 1-5. Students will also begin the Unit on the Middle Ages, and will be learning about the culture, Charlemagne, and the Feudal System. - Monday: Students will take Rome Quiz 2 "The Fall of Rome." Following the Quix the students will read "A Brief Summary of the Middle Ages" passage and answer fifteen question that are directly related to the reading. - Tuesday: Student will ready chapter 1 of Blood Red Horse, and will begin to work on the maps that explain the evolving geography of the Middle Ages, as well as, the vocabulary. - Wednesday: Students will begin taking notes in the Not Pack that the teacher provides them, and will cover culture and the life of Charlemagne. Once finished with the notes the students will watch a Crash Course on the Dark Ages, and to work on the maps and vocabulary. - Thursday: Students will continue working in the notes and discuss life on a manor, the Feudal System, and touch on Knighthood. - Friday: Students will take Blood Red Horse Quiz on chapters 1-5. Following the Quiz the students will participate in an in class Feudalim Activity where the students will assume the role of a King, a Bishop, a Nobleman, a Knight, or a Peasant, and will analyze what life must have been like in the Middle Ages from the asigned prospective. *Students are to be reading the novel for homework.*

April 14th- 18th

This week students will be studying about Marcus Aurelius.  Students will be analyzing his role in the Roman Empire and his role in the fall of Rome.  Students will also be identifying reasons for the fall of the Rome.

  • Monday, April 14th: Reading and reading questions on Marcus Aurelius.  Students will be given the questions.  Reading is posted to schoology. (Reading will also be available for those students without access to schoology.)
  • Wednesday, April 16th: Reading and reading quiz on Bread and Circus (Roman gladiator fights) .  Students will be given the questions.  Reading is posted to schoology.  (Reading will also be available for those students without access to schoology.)
  • Thursday, April 17th: Students will be given the study guide for the Roman quiz.  Students are expected to complete the study guide on their own.
  • Monday, April 21st: Rome Quiz
** Please make sure to have your own copy of Blood Red Horse in class by Thursday, April 17th. If you purchased a book through Little Professor Mrs. Flinkow will have your copy in class.

April 7th- April 11th

This week students will continue their unit on Ancient Rome. 

* All students need to have a copy of Blood Red Horse in class by April 14th.  If you ordered a copy through Little Professor, books will be given to students in class.
